As this course is heavily based on the IET Wiring Regulations book, it is highly recommended you bring your own up-to-date copy to the training (Orange Book).

18th Edition Course Contents?
This intensive 3-day course is delivered in a classroom environment and is purely theory-based. It will guide you through the IET Wiring regulations breaking down each topic into easy to understand modules.

- Structure and scope of BS 7671
- Definitions and terminology
- Assessment of general characteristics
- Protection against electric shock
- Selection and erection of equipment
- Inspection and testing procedures
- Special installations and locations (e.g., EV charging, solar, etc.)
- Protection against overvoltages
- Electrical embedded heating
- Protection against fire
- Energy efficiency
- Changes introduced in Amendment 2:
- Arc fault detection devices (AFDDs)
- Surge protection
- Fire safety design for buildings
- Prosumer’s low-voltage electrical installations
- Changes introduced in Amendment 3:
- Selecting and installing protective devices in situations where additional power sources (batteries, EV chargers, PV systems) are involved
- Changes introduced in Amendment 4:
- New requirements for stationary secondary batteries
- Functional earthing and bonding for ICT equipment
- Dedicated section for Power over Ethernet (PoE)
- Major revisions to Section 710: Medical Locations
The IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition: BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 form the new standard to which all new electrical installations, additions and alterations are to comply.

Exam
The exam is a multiple-choice, open-book exam that is taken under exam conditions. You are able to refer to a clean copy of the IET Wiring Regulations book during the exam.
Do I Still Need to Take the 2382-22 Course?
In April 2026, IET’s 18th Edition Wiring Regulations were updated to include Amendment 4. As such, our City & Guilds 2382-22 course, which included Amendment 3, has been superseded by this 2382-26 course, which covers the latest updates from Amendment 4 as well as all the material from the previous syllabus.
Consequently, you do not need to take the 2382-22. Instead, to remain compliant with latest IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, you should enrol on a City & Guilds 2382-26 training programme.
