Course Overview

Download Course Factsheet

This one-day course covers the Arc flash risk assessment described in IEEE 1584. The course encompasses examples of incident energy and flash protection boundary calculations. Basic methods used to calculate fault energy at points on the system are also examined.

Fact: A report published in Industrial Safety and Hygiene News1 estimated that, on average, there are 30,000 arc flash incidents every year. The report went on to estimate that those incidents resulted in average annual totals of 7,000 burn injuries, 2,000 hospitalizations, and 400 fatalities per year.
