Combining classroom theory with practical learning, this six-day course incorporates the City & Guilds 2391-50 Level 3 Award in Initial Verification and the City & Guilds 2391-51 Level 3 Award in Periodic Inspection and Testing, giving you the skills and confidence to carry out inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations in line with current requirements.
Entry Requirements / Suitability
This course is ideal for practising electricians looking to expand their inspection and testing skills and gain a recognised qualification covering both initial verification and periodic inspection and testing. It is suitable for those carrying out inspection and testing for the first time, as well as electricians looking to refresh their existing knowledge.
There are no official qualification requirements for enrolling on this course, however, this is an advanced course designed for experienced electricians. Learners are recommended to have:
- A strong understanding of electrical science and principles
- A current qualification in the latest IET Wiring Regulations
- At least two years’ experience in inspection and testing
- Experience working with live boards
- An understanding of three-phase systems
Candidates must be over 18 years of age and have a good standard of written and spoken English.
Course Details
During the course, learners will benefit from classroom-based theory and hands-on practical training using our purpose-built electrical installation training bays. The course covers both initial verification and periodic inspection in accordance with the requirements of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations, helping learners develop the skills required to confidently assess electrical installations.

Duration: 6 Days
Assessment: Learners must complete a multiple-choice online examination (60 questions, 2 hours), a short-answer test (1 hour), and a practical assessment (2 hours).
Certification: Successful learners will receive the City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Combined Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations (2391-52).
