18th Edition Update Course with C&G2382-18 Exam

Take the 18th Edition Update Course if you have already obtained the 17th Edition C&G 2382-15 with 3rd Amendment certificate.

18th Edition Update Course for those who have the 17th Edition, 3rd Amendment qualification

This course is designed exclusively for those who have recently taken the 17th Edition 2382-15 City & Guilds course with 3rd Amendment.

Proof of qualification will be required to take this course.

This one day 18th Edition course covers a summary of the differences between the 17th Edition and the new 18th Edition. However, the assessment that takes place is the same as that of the full 18th Edition course, in that you will have to take the 2 hour, 60 item multiple choice exam that is aligned fully to the new 18th Edition (Blue Book).

This course is based solely on the latest edition of the IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition Blue Book). We advise that you have your own copy of the book to bring with you to the course. The book will be available from the release of the new edition in July 2018.

The following main changes have been made in the appendices:

Appendix 6 Model forms for certification and reporting
This appendix includes minor changes to the certificates, changes to the inspections (for new
installation work only) for domestic and similar premises with up to 100 A supply, and examples of items
requiring inspection for an electrical installation condition report.
Appendix 7 (informative) Harmonized cable core colours
This appendix includes only minor changes.
Appendix 8 Current-carrying capacity and voltage drop
This appendix includes changes regarding rating factors for current-carrying capacity.
Appendix 14 Determination of prospective fault current
The contents of Appendix 14 concerning earth fault loop impedance have been moved into
Appendix 3. Appendix 14 now contains information on the determination of prospective fault current.
Appendix 17 Energy efficiency
This is a new appendix that provides recommendations for the design and erection of electrical
installations, including installations having local production and storage of energy for optimizing the
overall efficient use of electricity.
The recommendations within the scope of this appendix apply for new electrical installations and
modification of existing electrical installations. Much of this appendix will not apply to domestic and
similar installations.

It is intended that this appendix is read in conjunction with BS IEC 60364-8-1 when published in 2018

Assessment

Assessment for this course takes the form of a 60 question multiple choice examination (it is the same as the Full 18th Edition City & Guilds 2382-18 course exam).

Certification

Those successfully passing the online course and exam will receive a City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations – 2382-18 qualification.

Progression and Development

Those successfully passing the course and exam will be able to move on to study further electrical qualifications if desired.

Anyone wanting to study the 18th Edition Update course must have already obtained the 17th Edition 2382-15 with 3rd Amendment Certificate. We will require proof of this before we can enrol you on to this course.
