Professional training and qualifications for the electrical industry

The IET are working towards a launch date of 1st July 2018 with the aim of being implemented on 1st January 2019.

Ultimately this means that until July it will only be possible to take the 17th Edition Course however PASS will keeping a close eye on the development of the 18th Edition to ensure we are able to provide the course as quickly after launch as possible.

The content of the course will remain the principally the same with a few amendments, some of which were part of the Draft for Public comment. These amendments and additions may include:

  • Electrical Embedded heating – Section 753 will additionally include electrical surface heating including non-hardened compacted areas.
  • Protection against overvoltages – Clause 443 is to be reviewed.
  • Protection against fire – Chapter 42 will include additional information on arc fault detection
  • Energy efficiency – A new part 8 to cover both industry changes and new legislation.

*These amendments/additions may not be the only changes that will come as part of the 18th Edition.
