City & Guilds (2919-01) Level 3 Award for Electric Vehicle Charging Point Installers (EVSE) Course

For Domestic, Commercial and Industry Equipment Installation

This City & Guilds (2919-01) EVSE Installers course is designed for experienced electricians who would like to increase their skills to be able to offer an install service for domestic, commercial and “on-the-street” charging points. The course will allow you to add this extra revenue stream to your business offering an EVSE Installation service to your clients.

City & Guilds (2919-01) Electric Vehicle Charger Installer for Domestic, Commercial and Industrial Details

The course will cover all of the essential elements of completing an installation including:

  • Introduction to Electric Vehicles
    Electric Vehicle types, Characteristics, Charging requirements, Safety considerations
  • Overview of Electric Vehicle charging
    Modes of charging and requirements, restrictions
  • Electrical Installation Requirements
    Supply, Earthing, Planning permission, Explosive atmospheres, Protection, Labelling, Control, Risk assessment
  • Installation
    Practical domestic and commercial installation
  • Inspection, Test and Certification
    Commissioning and DNO paperwork
  • System Test, Fault Finding and Examination
    Includes both a practical and written assessments


Learners will be expected to complete the following assessment at the end of the course:

Online 40 questions 1 hour (open book)

Practical exams:

  • Task A – Design 30 mins
  • Task B – Install 1 hour
  • Task C – Initial Verification 1 hour
  • Task D – Domestic Design 30 mins

For those who successfully complete the course and assessment you will receive a City & Guilds 2019-01 Level 3 Award in Domestic, Commercial and Industry Equipment Installation certificate.

Progression and Development
The ability to install electric vehicle charging equipment in domestic, commercial and industrial settings.

  • City & Guilds 2392-10 Fundamental Inspection, Testing & Initial Verification

This course covers commercial installations and is designed for fully qualified electricians. You must aged 18 or over. It is recommended that you be up to date with the latest wiring regulations (18th Edition).

If you do not fully meet these requirements you may be able to take the City & Guilds 2919-02) Course for Domestic Electric Car Charging, designed for domestic installers.
