The Teesside PAT business start up course covers the theoretical aspects of PAT testing, detailing the regulations, legislation, principles of electricity and, Health and Safety. PAT Testing will be conducted in a “real life” training environment, is hands-on and shows how to correctly use PAT testing equipment and PAT software packages, before moving on to business aspects including, how to set up your own pat testing business, set up costs and marketing.
The course includes a City & Guilds 2377 In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment qualification and prepares you for the Exam which is taken on day two of the course.
Day One
The first day will cover the basics of electricity, why PAT testing is carried out and everything required to pass the 2377-20 course.
Day Two
The second day begins with essential Health & Safety, how to choose a PAT tester and practical PAT Testing. PAT Testing will be performed in real life scenario test bays which include a whole host of electrical appliances. With fully equipped Kitchen and Office test bays, testing can be carried out using a range of different PAT equipment.
Covering how to use PAT testing software and how to manage PAT Testing results, the afternoon covers vital aspects of any PAT Testing business.
Day Three
The third and final day will focus on the practicalities of starting a business and will outline essential information on how to set up a business, covering topics such as Tax, Insurance, Business banking, funding available, set up costs, pricing and marketing.
The assessment is a 30 question online examination. This is an open book exam that last for 1 hour. You will also be assessed on your practical testing.
Successful candidates will achieve a City and Guilds In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment - 2377-20 certificate and a certificate of attendance from PASS.
Candidates who fail the examination will only receive a certificate of attendance from PASS.
The course is three days long and takes place at the Stockton-on -Tees training centre close to Middlesbrough and Newcastle.

Those who are successful will achieve a City & Guilds Level 3 qualification enabling progression to more advanced electrical training courses;
There are no formal pre requisites however, those who want to attend this course must have a strong interest in the subject area and be eager to learn a new skill.
