Suitability

The introduction to Inspecting and Testing of Electrical Installations course is most suited to those who would like to have a career in electrical inspection and testing. It is designed to improve the existing knowledge or those who have no knowledge or experience of working in the electrical trade and want to work towards a City & Guilds standard.
The course is designed as a stepping stone to enable you to progress on to the Part P course and if  you wish following on to the City & Guilds 2392 Fundamental Inspection and Testing of domestic electrical installations.

Course Overview

This course starts from the basics and covers the following subjects;

• Legal requirements
• Safety procedures
• The different types of Test equipment for the range of testing procedures
• Inspection procedures
• Simple testing sequence of an installation
• Live testing
• Completion of simple electrical certificates.

Progression & Development

After successfully completing the Introduction to inspection and testing of Electrical installations course you will be able to inspect and test your own work. You will also be well placed to go on and study the following qualifications;
Part P - Full Scope - VRQ Level 2 Training - Part P Certificate for Domestic Electrical Installer.

• City & Guilds 2391-10 Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical installations
• City & Guilds 2392-10 Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification
• City and Guilds 17th Edition - 2382-10 - 17th Edition Wiring Regulations

Pre-requisites

There are no formal pre requisites however those who want to attend this course must have a strong interest in the subject area and be eager to learn a new skill.

Assessment

The course will conclude with a written and practical assessment.

Certification

Successful candidates will achieve a Certificate of Competency in “an Introduction to Electrical Inspection & Testing” awarded from PASS.
Candidates who fail the examination will only receive a certificate of attendance from PASS.

Guidance Note 3 (GN 3) (17th Edition 5th Edition) (ISBN 0-86341-857-0)
